Good morning all!  Piccadilly Cottage is going through some transitions as we try to keep up with customer demands.  I have launched a Couture Wedding Garter line!  I am so proud of this line, why?  Because I get to use my favorite fabrics, trims and vintage finds! My 100% Dupioni silk vintage flatroses are hand created using vintage techniques in French ribbonwork.  The glass pearls and rhinestones are hand sewn, not glued, in a design created by Piccadilly Cottage for your special day! My garters are sold mostly as sets, gift boxed and comes with extra thread and pearls.  I also include fashion tape!

So, in the spirit of beautiful weddings here is a little help with trends, planning and ideas.  Enjoy!

The small "workable" workspace

I'm not at the point in my business to have a separate studio to create my baby shoes and accessories; but I am very thankful for stores like Ikea who had everything I needed to create an organized area in a very limited space.

I chose these pieces for a larger work area and additional storage.  The shelves were purchased in white to keep it light and airy.

I decided to put the wired basket under the table to store shipping supplies and sewing machine accessories.

The racks and "S" hooks are a great way to store your ribbons and  findings.

My finished area!

Wishing you a happy, safe 4th of July!

So, I've been very busy the last couple of months with family visiting and working on my business.  I wanted to check in and wish everyone a very Happy Fourth of July!  I am so proud to be an American and feel lucky and honored to live here.  We live at the beach, so even though it's been a little cool and cloudy we will be having a BBQ and riding our bikes to main street to watch our annual 108th  Huntington Beach parade.  Come early if you live in the Huntington Beach area!  Here's a little history about our parade.

PARADE HISTORY
The tradition began on July 4, 1904, when Huntington Beach commemorated the arrival of the first electric passenger train linking the area with Long Beach and Los Angeles.  The Board of Trade, a forerunner of the Chamber of Commerce, sponsored this first event, bringing 50,000 people to town to join in the day’s celebration.Through the years, residents and visitors have witnessed some spectacular sights. How’s this for a show-stopping stunt by a city official? In the late 1930s, the city’s first lifeguard and fire chief, Dilbert “Bud” Higgins had a trick that no one has since imitated. He would don a firesuit, cover his face with petroleum jelly, soak himself with alcohol, light a match and dive in a fiery ball from a 50-foot platform high above the pier into the water below.Among the famous who have presided over the parade in years past are Hollywood movie stars Jayne Mansfield, Natalie Wood, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Dorothy Lamour, Mickey Rooney (and Mickey Mouse!) and a true American hero, astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The best legend goes that during his presidency, Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s entourage was on its way through town, headed for San Diego, as the parade was going on. Quick-thinking parade organizers persuaded them take a slow pass along the parade route, to the delight of those gathered to watch. The Parade marked its centennial in 2004 by bringing the fireworks back to the beach (from its former location at Huntington Beach High School), which drew 150,000 onlookers. This year’s fireworks 23-minute spectacular, with a total of 1,300 rounds of fireworks – 500 of them during the finale in the last 40 seconds of the show — is expected to attract twice that many. Be safe and have fun!
